Parker’s Rotary FlexiSeal™ product line
is a problem solver for radial
applications with extreme conditions that involve lower speeds and high
pressures.
Rotary FlexiSeal profiles are
designed for applications where elastomer lip seals fail to meet required
temperature range and are used where speed is relatively low (<1500 sfpm) and pressures are high (up to
10,000 psi). Its spring-energized U-cup design utilizes a variety of jacket and
lip profiles, spring types, and materials.
Different spring designs are
available to energize the PTFE jacket: V-shaped cantilever springs
(V-Series) and canted coil springs (C-Series).
The helical spring (H-Series) should only be used for static or very
slow rotary applications.
Rotary FlexiSeals feature either a flanged design or an O-ring on the
OD to keep the seal fixed in the bore as the shaft rotates. The O-ring can either be centered along the
OD or may be located in the heel of the seal.
Virtually any O-ring material can be supplied with a custom rotary
FlexiSeal, but a fluorocarbon material is standard.
Since the FlexiSeal solves problems along several parameters, it is
used in virtually every market. Examples
of extreme condition applications that involve lower speeds and higher
pressures for which the rotary FlexiSeal is best suited include:

- Cryogenics
- FDA
